How To Start Doing Something You Haven’t Done In A While?
Do you want to start all over again but you have a lot of concerns and worry?
Well, it is for me! Especially this year.
I have been thinking about this over and over again for weeks. I can’t get it out of my mind. It kinda haunted me. So, I talked to my circle of friends about this – How to start again?
My friend, IA asked me, “What is the scenario that brings you to this question?”
The fact is that I stopped doing what I enjoy doing for over two years because of some problems. I struggled with mental issues. The last 4 years have been pretty rough.
And now as I’m getting better, I wish to start with things I left before.
Like create content which I used to do and new activity – make videos about self-growth, mental health and spirituality. But the challenge is I feel overwhelmed and I don’t know where to begin.
A lot of things running in my mind.
“I’m not sure whether I’m doing it right or not. If I do it, what is the end result look like? How do I do them consistently once I have started? What if something else comes along and I put it off?”
For certain people, they don’t want people to see them start. Because the feeling behind and look like a looser are very uncomfortable.
Can you relate?
3 Ways To Overcome Fears To Start All Over Again
Later on, I find solutions for myself. And I would love to share it with you.
It has been two weeks since I started and I feel great. When I begin, I realise that I’m focusing too much on the future and attach myself to the outcomes.
What I need to do is be clear about my direction and just enjoy the progress. It is not about winning all the time, it is more about keep playing so that I can be consistent.
#1 – Understand Why You Want To Do It Again
I read a book Start With Why by Simon Sinek. It gives a huge impact on myself in meeting my purpose. You can check it out.
After I go through a practice Find Your Why (his second book), I notice that I feel alive whenever I know my content can bring an impact on others. Kinda I have a bigger purpose when I create content and make videos.
So, it turns out my why is empower people’s soul towards hope so that they can truly thrive their life by being the best version of who they are.
Now is your time. Figure out your why. It can be the foundation for you to keep going. If you can’t think what is your why, that’s okay. Take your time, okay?
#2 – Find How To Do It If You’re Failing Behind
Remember, just because you start late doesn’t make you fail. You still got it.
When I know what I had missed, I took some online classes to improve my knowledge and skills. And I managed to do my first speaking video last week!
The video is an outcome. Including this article. I find out to do and pick up my skills like brainstorm ideas with my friends, write the script, think about content and make it happen.
I don’t want to wait, I want to create.
Right now, you can Google and check any valid online course that available. Roll in and begin your journey.
#3 – Start By Taking The Simplest Step Possible
Start small, scale up and then, go beyond. Focus on one thing that you can do. Make a list and Just Do it! I believe you already know this, so why wait to do something that you supposed to do?
The clock is ticking.
Lastly, enjoy the whole progress, detach yourself from the outcome and be proud of your journey. Lower your expectations but raise up your hope and efforts.
All the best, y’ll.
